Hello non-earthling,
The point of this blog is to acquaint you with a certain planet called Earth which I inhabit as I write this. It's the third planet from the inside in what we call 'The Solar System' but that wouldn't be of much help to you if you had to find us as there must be billions of them eh?
Well basically my planet revolves around a star that we call 'The Sun'. It's a small star that is believed to be a second or third generation star. My solar system is located at the outer edge of a spiral galaxy that we call 'The Milky Way' galaxy.
The Earth is touted to be about 4 billion earth years old. I am not sure how to explain the concept of a 'year' to you. It should suffice to say it's the time taken by my planet to complete one revolution of the sun. (We orbit the sun like the other planets) (There are roughly 8 other planets in our system)
As a measure of comparison, I can tell you that humans (It's a type of life form) (I'm one of them) can live for about 80 years on an average in good conditions.
There are over 7 billion humans on this planet. I am again at a loss as to how to explain numerals to you as developed by humans. I will take up this topic for discussion on another day. (There are 365 days in a year)
Earth has developed carbon-based life form. Carbon is the name we have given to an atom consisting of 6 protons, neutrons and electrons.
Water sustains us all.
For convenience, if you are able to view this blog, I believe you also have access to Google and Wikipedia so I suggest you look up any terms that are alien to you on these websites so that I can dwelve into matters more earthly.
